Augusta Horsey Nash Service Award
Jane Howe Receives the 2007 Augusta Horsey Nash Service Award
Saturday, December 15th, approximately 60 GCA members and guests had the pleasure of seeing Augusta Horsey Nash present the 2007 Augusta Horsey Nash Service Award to Jane Howe. This award recognizes outstanding service to GCA and the coaching community. Originally conceived in 2005 by the GCA Board of Directors, this annual Service Award is named in honor of its first recipient, Augusta Horsey Nash MCC. Betsy Pickren PCC, the 2006 recipient of the Service Award, joined Augusta in being among the first to congratulate Jane.
As the recipient of this year’s Service Award, Jane was recognized by the Board of Directors for her consistent and enthusiastic support of GCA, its mission, and its membership. In addition to acknowledging Jane’s service on the GCA Board for four terms, this Award celebrates her role as Chair for the 2007 Prism Award event.

"Jane led the team with an inspiring level of commitment and dedication to producing an above-excellent event. She created a theme of “light” that became a thread for the team throughout the planning process. She always made sure to show gratitude for the hard-working volunteers and graciously shared the limelight.
-
“Her ‘shining moment’ was as Prism Chair in 2007. She assembled an excellent leadership team, created a process that was inclusive and inviting, and produced a wonderful event. Her calm leadership style served us well.”
-
"Along with Gene Gallivan, she took the GCA signature event to the next level which solidified the platform upon which the 2008 Chairs will build. GCA is on the map in the business community.”
Jane’s gracious acceptance speech vividly demonstrated the values for which she was being recognized – creativity, fun, warmth, inclusion, achievement, and inspiration.
In October, the GCA Board of Directors solicited nominations from the membership for this prestigious Service Award. In addition to Jane, Joanne Stein Letlow and Kelly Jones were nominated by GCA members. All three of these women exemplify volunteerism at its very best. They and others like them are the fuel that runs GCA.
Congratulations!
